The Black Oak Casino ( 5 minute drive) has amazing buffets cheap gas late night market and gives new players club members free 25$ to play slots. Just past the Casino is Tuolumne market nice local place to shop. Twain Harte has some gr8 breakfast restaurants. Other suggestions Pinecrest lake a must, Big trees state park, Children love the 1897 Railroad state park  steam train roundhouse Old west town Columbia. Yosemite National Park is still over an hour scenic drive to the Big Oak Flat entrance gate but well worth it.
